[3] Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

Do You Have a Spirit of Excellence?

Good morning everyone and happy #WitnessWednesday!! Sometimes God sends a word of encouragement. Sometimes God sends a word of conviction and correction. Idk about you, but for me this message is encouraging, convicting and correcting. I can remember times where y'all would have this message on your screens between 7:30 and 8am every Wednesday. Now, if you get it at all, it comes out whenever I get the chance...

That's not a Spirit of Excellence. I'm certainly NOT doing more than I was when I was getting these messages out 1st thing in the morning. What's my excuse? I don't have one. I've become complacent. I haven't given the effort that I once had. And it's not ok. Should God accept less than our very best? No. Why not? Because He gave us nothing less than His Best. He gave us EVERYTHING. Why should we give Him any less than our best? Yes, this may mean praying and studying when you could be hanging out. Yes, this may mean practicing that song over and over until you get it sounding like you want it (God sees you Dupè.) Yes, it may mean going the extra mile to do the things that would please God, even if it costs you something (sleep, money, comfort, pride etc.) In the end if God is pleased with your efforts and you've given your best, what else can come out of this except a great blessing??? Seriously, think about that. When you've given your BEST service to God, what else can He give you other than a reward? We know God's nature. He delights Himself in those who delight themselves in Him. Think Moses , David and Job. None of these men were Jesus by any measure. None of these men were perfect, but they gave God their best and were rewarded greatly. If we are to grow spiritually, we must have a spirit of Excellence in us. Gone are the days of half-stepping, last-minute rushing, and slapping things together. We must excel in our work for God. It's time to graduate. You coming with me or not?

Make the Right Choice! pt. 3

https://238670694234599852.weebly.com/witnesswednesday/make-the-right-choice-pt-3

https://238670694234599852.weebly.com/witnesswednesday/make-the-right-choice-pt-3#comments

Uncategorized

Psalm 1:3He shall be like a treePlanted by the rivers of water,That brings forth its fruit in its season,Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.God bless you and happy #WitnessWednesday, everyone. Today, our passage is taken from a Psalm written by the wisest man on earth, Solomon. Here, he teaches through song the sovereignty and goodness of God. We should quickly notice that unless God is the sustaining force behind all we do, every endeavor is worthless and will amount to nothing. If God's hand does not hold us in His grasp, we can't achieve anything meaningful in this life. We'll be giving every effort in a useless manner because God is not upholding us. So, basically, we see that when we are committed to God's glory, He makes our way prosperous and less stressful. So, ladies and gentlemen, let's do things with God as our focus. I still currently use "anointing oil" myself, out of habit and tradition, so this is NOT me pointing fingers, but we are (and should be) learning together. For anointing oil to be used in the purposes of worship, it must have been pure olive oil mixed with myrrh, cinnamon, cane and cassia. This is what God considered to be a precise formulation fit for consecration of the people and possessions of the temple. Nothing else was to be used but this specific formulation for anointing purposes only or else it would result in death. Consecration was the purpose of anointing oil. Consecration is when a person, place or thing is designated
(by anointing it) for God's sole use and purpose. Anointing oil was given to the people of Israel in the Old Testament. No such formula was given to the Church because we are all anointed with the seal of the Holy Spirit, and we are all declared holy by the Blood of Jesus. The purposes of anointing with oil were no longer required after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ enacted the New Covenant. The things of old: sacrifices, blood of animals, tithes, anointing oil etc. has all passed away and been fulfilled by Christ. That's why we do not see these things continuing to be taught in the New Testament. We must put our own traditions aside, as difficult as it may be, and accept what scripture teaches. This is what disciples do.

July 31st, 2024

https://238670694234599852.weebly.com/witnesswednesday/july-31st-2024

https://238670694234599852.weebly.com/witnesswednesday/july-31st-2024#comments

Uncategorized

2 Timothy 2:3-4 NLT3 Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them. Are You A Good Soldier?!! Paul, an Apostle, hand-picked by Jesus, Himself, knew that he was going off the scene and he trusted Timothy to carry on after his imminent demise. Only a reliable witness like Timothy could be trusted to carry on the gospel of Jesus Christ because he had been a disciple of Paul's since day-word go. Paul gave his life to teaching God's Word and he would need people who were just as dedicated to the mission of the gospel as he was. Timothy was that person for Paul, what about you, dear friend? Today, our text peers into a moment of insecurity in the life of Moses. God is directing him in what he needs to do to set His people free but Moses keeps finding excuses. He tells God about whatever speech impediment he had in hopes of getting out of the big task ahead. Do you do that sometimes?

I know I have. When I first started preaching and even now, i have problems getting whats in my brain out of my mouth without sounding totally ridiculous. Public speaking is definitely not my strong suit. Couple that with the amount of time between my dialysis treatments, and i could really be a hard listen. But I try not to let that stop me from doing what God has called me to do. Not because I think i'm great at it, but because there is a job that needs to be done and somebody's got to do it. God does not often use the people that are the best looking, most well-spoken, or most affluent. God tends to use the "little guy." He uses those who cannot (rightfully) seek the glory for themselves. He uses the worst of us for the best of His work. So, even if your not the best at anything, God can still use you mightily if you're willing to give Him the best of what you do have. Today, our wisdom comes from a proverb of Solomon. A Proverb is a "wise saying" that is not meant to be absolute in it's nature but a general principle that benefits our lives should we heed it. This wise saying encourages generosity.

When we look for opportunities to be a blessing in the lives of others today, we are setting up our very own blessings for tomorrow. God ultimately is the giver of all good gifts but sometimes He doesn't do His best work miraculously. Most often, God does His blessing through ordinary means. He uses us to be a blessing to each other during different seasons of our lives. We may think that the things we do are small or meaningless but good deeds done with a genuine heart is never overlooked by God. God's people should be marked by the goodness of their hearts. Genuine generosity is a godly trait. The generous will receive more blessings for sharing the blessings they have received with others. Don't get tired of doing good because in due season you will reap if you don't give up!
