2 Timothy 2:1-2 (NLT) Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. 2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. Good morning everyone, and happy #WitnessWednesday!!! Today, our text invites us into a personal conversation between Paul and his protege, Timothy. Paul apparently had reason to believe that Timothy's faith was going to be tested in such a dramatic fashion that this letter was warranted. Paul was deserted by many friends previously, but he trusted Timothy. This is where our topic comes from. Paul, an Apostle, hand-picked by Jesus, Himself, knew that he was going off the scene and he trusted Timothy to carry on after his imminent demise. Only a reliable witness like Timothy could be trusted to carry on the gospel of Jesus Christ because he had been a disciple of Paul's since day-word go. Paul gave his life to teaching God's Word and he would need people who were just as dedicated to the mission of the gospel as he was. Timothy was that person for Paul, what about you, dear friend? Are you a reliable witness? Can you be trusted to go into every corner of your world and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ? Or, are you too timid? too busy? too... whatever to get your hands dirty with gospel work? I challenge you to be a reliable witness for Jesus Christ. Do what you can to snatch back souls from the flames of everlasting torment. Tell someone about the Truth!
